SVO ET Ambo Sharon Child Development Village Project

This is a huge and complex child development village planned to be built in partnership with Because of Kennedy (BOK)/USA. The village will be home for the children abandoned and /or left on the streets. A loving woman/compassion mother will be employed for a group of seven in one cottage/home. These children will be rehabilitated wholistically up to grade four and then they will be transferred to sponsored children and mixed into community with their compassion mother in the village. When they leave for sponsorship to the community, other new abandoned children will be admitted and this cycle will continue. The village has planned to host about 352 abandoned children at a time. The village will encompass full infrastructure such as primary school, clinic, vocational training center, guest house, libraries, playing field, meeting hall, chapel, and etc. It will also have farm land for income generating activities to be self reliant in the long run. The total fund estimated for the buildings is about ETB 30 million (USD 1.7 million).

Since fifty cottages are planned to be built in seven compounds, it is open to interested donors to fund separately in collaboration with Because of Kennedy. For example, a donor can fund the building of one cottage (which costs about 500 thousand Ethiopian Birr /USD 27,780.00) or one compound (which costs ETB 3.5 million /USD 194,500.00) or the whole village (which costs about ETB 30 million /USD 1.7). Any amount of contribution is also highly appreciated for children at risk.
