SVO ET-004 Ambo Spring of Hope Child Development Project


This project is being undertaken in collaboration with Children’s HopeChest –Ethiopia/USA for 150 children /the number that will be raised. The project operation is on holistic child development while it still emphasizes on working on family and community empowerment.

  1. Child support

    Child development is the main focus of the project. The children who are double orphaned, single orphaned and those are from the destitute families are the beneficiaries of the project to pursue their studies. There are 150 children in the program and they are served while they live with their relatives/extended families. The project provides the following, among others, services: school fee, educational materials, medical treatment, clothing, and supplementary food, counseling, spiritual, etc services.

  2. Family empowerment

    Facilitation of child environment for his/her full development, family empowerment is the main strategy of the Stand for Vulnerable Organization (SVO). As it is well pressed in the previous sections, the families of beneficiary children will be organized in to self help business groups. This helps to train them on saving, employment generation skills, discovery of self esteem and encouragement to secure livelihood through being engaged in income generating activities to send one’s kid into school in a sustainable way.

  3. Community empowerment

    This project works on community empowerment where the beneficiary children and their guardians are located. The project uses capital budgets to invest on facilities such as community pit latrines, pure water and sanitation provision, health stations and school building, income generating activities, libraries, etc.
